Wolfgang Nešković was a Judge at the District Court in Lübeck from 1981-2002. He was a lecturer at the University of Hamburg for several years. Between 1992 and 2002 he was a press spokesman at the Lübeck District Court. From 2002 to 2005, he was a Judge at the Federal Supreme Court. Nešković is a member of the Neue Richtervereinigung (New Association of Judges) and in the animal protection organisation in Lübeck. He was a member of the SPD from 1979 until 1994, a member of the Greens from 1995 until 2005, and has had no party affiliation since then. From 2005 until October 2009, he was the Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of DIE LINKE in the German Parliament, the Bundestag. Since 13 December 2012 he has been a non-affiliated member in the16th term of Bundestag.
In addition, Nešković was an advisory member in the Ausschuss für Umwelt, Naturschutz und Reaktorsicherheit (Committe for Environment, Nature Conservation and Reactor Safety) and editor of the CIA Torture Report. Since May 2016 he has been an expert advisor in the Enquête Commission of the Landtag of Hesse for the Revision of the Hessian Constitution.
