Klaus Bergmann, born in 1954, is working as a lawyer in Berlin again after his retirement at Deutsche Welle. Most recently, he has been head of the International Affairs department of the German foreign broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW) since 2012. From 2009 to 2017 Bergmann was also responsible for DW’s European representation in Brussels. After studying law at the University of Münster, he initially worked as a lawyer. From 1987 he worked as a personnel officer for the American foreign broadcaster Radio Free Europe in Munich. In 1991, Bergmann moved to Deutsche Welle in Cologne as head of personnel, and two years later he was appointed head of DW’s administration in Berlin.
Bergmann was Chairman of the International Broadcasting Assembly (IBA) of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
