Karin Lenhart-Roth studied political science, theatre and media science, as well as German language and literature in Erlangen and Berlin, and completed her doctorate at the FU Berlin with a thesis on the democratic content of the Berlin urban development policy after the reunification of Germany. After teaching and research activities at the FU Berlin, at the Leibniz University in Hannover and various research institutions, she has been working as a Professor for Political Science at the University of Applied Sciences Hannover, Department for Social Work. For many years, she has dealt with social and labour market policy topics, among other subjects, from the perspectives of gender and human rights, as well as issues of democratic participation and civic involvement. One emphasis of her teaching and research activities is on the complex subject area of human trafficking with a particular focus on forced labour and labour exploitation.
